15 tips for identifying the quality of mold steel

1. Fake and inferior steel is prone to folding. Folding refers to various folds formed on the surface of steel, which often run through the longitudinal direction of the entire product. The reason for folding is due to the pursuit of efficiency by counterfeit manufacturers, which results in excessive compression and the formation of ears. During the next rolling process, folding occurs, and the folded product will crack after bending, leading to a significant decrease in the strength of the steel.

2. Fake and inferior steel often has a rough appearance. Matte surface is a defect on the surface of steel that is irregular and uneven due to severe groove wear caused by rolling. Due to the pursuit of profit by manufacturers of counterfeit and inferior steel, it is common for groove rolling to exceed the standard.

3. Fake and inferior steel surfaces are prone to scar formation. There are two reasons: 1) The material of fake and inferior steel is uneven and contains many impurities. 2) The guide equipment of fake and inferior material manufacturers is simple and easy to stick to steel, and these impurities can easily cause scars when they bite the rolling mill rolls.

4. The surface of fake and inferior materials is prone to cracking due to the fact that their raw material is adobe, which has many pores. During the cooling process, adobe is subjected to thermal stress, resulting in cracks that appear after rolling.

5. Fake and inferior steel is prone to scratches due to the crude equipment of the manufacturers, which can easily produce burrs and scratch the surface of the steel. Deep scratching reduces the strength of steel.

6. Fake and inferior steel has no metallic luster and appears light red or a color similar to pig iron for two reasons: 1) Its raw material is adobe. 2) The temperature for rolling fake and inferior materials is not standardized. Their steel temperature is visually measured, which makes it impossible to roll according to the specified austenite zone, and the performance of the steel cannot meet the standards.

7. The transverse bars of fake and inferior steel are thin and low, often resulting in insufficient filling. The reason is that the manufacturer, in order to achieve a large negative tolerance, has a larger pressing amount in the first few passes of the finished product, a smaller iron shape, and insufficient hole filling.

8. The cross-section of fake and inferior steel is elliptical. The reason is that the manufacturer, in order to save materials, has a larger pressing amount in the first two passes of the finished product roll, which greatly reduces the strength of this type of threaded steel and does not meet the standard for the external dimensions of threaded steel.

9. The composition of high-quality steel is uniform, the tonnage of the cold cutting machine is high, and the cutting end face is smooth and neat. However, due to poor material quality, fake and inferior materials often have meat peeling on the cutting end face, which is uneven and lacks metallic luster. Moreover, due to the fact that counterfeit and inferior material manufacturers have fewer product cuts, large ears may appear at the beginning and end.

10. Fake and inferior steel materials contain many impurities, with a low density and serious dimensional deviations. Therefore, without a vernier caliper, it can be weighed and verified. For example, for rebar 20, the standard specifies a larger negative tolerance of 5%. When measuring 9M, the theoretical weight of a single strand is 120 kilograms, and its minimum weight should be: 120X (L-5%)=114 kilograms. If the actual weight of a single strand is smaller than 114 kilograms, it is considered a counterfeit steel because its negative tolerance exceeds 5%. Generally speaking, the overall weighing effect is better, mainly considering the issues of cumulative error and probability theory.

11. The inner diameter size of counterfeit and inferior steel fluctuates greatly due to:; 1) Steel temperature instability has both positive and negative sides. 2) The composition of steel is uneven. 3) Due to the rudimentary equipment and low foundation strength. Source: Mold Technology Encyclopedia. The bouncing of the rolling mill is large. There may be significant changes in the inner diameter within the same week, which can cause uneven stress on the steel bars and lead to fracture.

12. The trademark and printing of high-quality materials are relatively standardized.

13. For large threads with a diameter of 16 or more on three steel materials, the spacing between the two trademarks should be above IM.

14. The longitudinal bars of fake and inferior steel threaded steel often have a wavy shape.

15. Due to the lack of vehicles, the packaging of fake and inferior steel manufacturers is relatively loose. The side is elliptical in shape.
